FMA Calendar Project
This commission is the largest design freelance commission I’ve gotten so far. Currently this project is not finished because it is due january 2025 but I have made enough progress to share what I have so far. Since I have done a lot of designs for people in the Final Fantasy 14 (FFXIV for short) community I was tasked by a guild (A group of players inside the community) to create a calendar using in game group screenshots as the photos you see on the top of each calendar month like a typical wall calendar. I decided to split my time up by getting the top image page of each month finished first then I would make the actual calendar pages at the bottom done 2nd. At first for the top display images I was going for a monotone cut out aesthetic but after some revisions the clients and I decided to go with an aesthetic that highlighted important elements of each screenshot while leaving other aspects of the screenshots in a gradient/monotone keeping each image dynamic. The images and the quotes are inspired by either the months themselves like how april and may are associated with the quotes “april showers, brinng may flowers” or by events that relate to the people of the guild themselves like March being related to the birthday of someone who loves coffee and august which is related to the 10 year anniversary of the guild. I took inspiration from a lot of traditional wall calendars while sticking to my own design aesthetics.
